Reviewing the Unconference
“We would go to an event and the speakers are the heroes of the event. All the attendees are in the shadows. We wondered what would happen if we make the attendees the heroes.”
It always seems that the best part of a conference is mingling in the hallways. Vincent Pugliese recognized the value in it so he turned the concept into a reality with The Unconference.
Vincent’s idea stemmed from a unique approach. He wondered what would happen if a conference was all about the connections you make. The ones that typically only have time to happen in-between sessions. Instead of ending with an idea, he put his words into action. The Unconference took place in Sarasota, Florida, offering an event focused on the magic of conversations without the usual distractions of keynote speakers or sponsors. It’s a place where relationships can be built without the rush of typical conference schedules. Since I had the opportunity to attend, I wanted to share my conversation reviewing The Unconference with Vincent.
Registering for The Unconference was unlike most events. It was filled with genuine connections. Vincent handpicked a diverse group of attendees who shared the same curiosity and drive for meaningful interactions. Instead of lining up a roster of speakers, rooms were designated for specific topics. This allowed attendees to move freely into conversations they are passionate about.
Vincent values long-term relationship building and see it as the cornerstone of success. Throughout the Unconference he encouraged attendees to focus less on immediate returns and more on developing lasting connections.
From my experience, The Unconference was more than a networking event. It was a lesson in the art of connection. By inviting the people who prioritize relationships over transactions, Vincent created an environment where everyone would thrive.
Whether you’re looking to host a similar event or simply want to expand your professional network, Vincent’s approach to prioritizing relationships over everything else is a model worth following. Make sure to connect with him through his website and social platforms. He’s set the standard for building connections that last far beyond a conference’s walls.
