Preparing to Be a Podcast Guest
Former Disney leader and customer experience expert Dennis Snow returns to flip the script and ask me the questions. His three thoughtful and unplanned questions lead to a great discussion about what it takes to be a great podcast guest and how to create connection through a microphone.
We discuss:
what makes a great podcast guest.
how I prepare for interviews.
what makes an episode memorable
Whether you are a host or guest, storytelling, humility, and knowing your audience are essential. A good guest doesn’t try to dominate the conversation. They aim to serve the listener.
While I don’t script conversations, I do research. I want to go into the conversation with an understanding of the guest’s world. Sometimes I even map out a few intentional questions. Preparation creates space for real moments to unfold.
The best podcasts are the ones when when guests show up as themselves. It’s less about credentials and more about connection. When a guest is honest, reflective, or vulnerable, listeners remember it.
The bottom line is, if you want to show up well on the mic, this conversation will point you in the right direction.
