Three Way to Use a Podcast to Build Your Business

JMS ep 372 three ways to use a podcast to build your business

“Everything my business has done has been built on the back of a podcast, and it’s only gotten better.”

Back in 2013, I recorded my first podcast episodes and then did nothing with them. They just sat there. I didn’t think they were good enough. My voice sounded weird. My confidence wasn’t there yet. Months later, I finally launched The Park Leader Show. That decision changed everything. Looking back, I realize I didn’t just start a podcast. I started building a business foundation.

A podcast can do the same for you. It’s a microphone, a message, and has the opportunity to become a multiplier. At first it becomes a resource. Your episodes answer questions your clients already have. Think of it like building a library of value. When someone asks, “What’s a culture-defining experience?” or “Why does nature connect teams?”, those episodes are waiting. Over time, your podcast becomes the go-to place for answers. That positions you as the expert.

Your podcast naturally promotes your services. Every episode is a chance to show what you do without pitching it. Talk about real problems you solve. Share stories from your work. Interview people who reinforce your values. Instead selling look at it as though you’re helping. That sells better than any ad ever could.

The third way your podcast can build your business is by attracting new clients. Invite current clients to share their stories. You’re highlighting them, but you’re also showing your impact. Then, reach out to people you’d love to work with and invite them as guests. A podcast gives you a reason to start conversations that could change your business.

Podcasting has introduced me to people I never would’ve met otherwise. It helped me clarify what I believe and build relationships that still matter today. If you’ve been sitting on an idea, maybe this is your nudge. Don’t wait for perfect. Start talking. Your voice and your story might just be the bridge to your next opportunity.
